Students from Broward County Schools, ranging from grades 9 thru 12 will be competing in the Florida Education Fund History and Cultural Brain Bowl Competition.
The purpose of this event is to make students aware of the rich history of African Americans. Trivia will come from a bank of 1000 questions based on sports, arts, politics, education and civil rights, to name a few. In addition, critical thinking questions will come from a list of required reading, such as “Gifted Hands by Ben Carson,” “Dreams of my Father, by Barack Obama,” “The Warmth of other Suns” and “Seven Black Plays.”
The Urban League’s auxiliary group, The Young Professional Network (YPN), is partnering with the Urban League’s Honor’s Society, The Atlantic Coast National Achievers, to host this event. The ultimate prizes of the Brain Bowl Competition are 4 year and 2 year scholarships from over 20 universities and colleges in the state of Florida.
Please come out and support these students as they compete for a chance to win scholarships.
