Suzette Speaks is a Miami-based television host and attorney and founder of the Fort Lauderdale Law Group, PLLC, a Personal Injury Law Firm. After only a few years of practicing law, Suzette felt called to follow her second passion: journalism and communications. She has now developed a dual-career path as both a Personal Injury Lawyer and a television host, professional speaker and event producer.
For the past seven years, in addition practicing law and assisting clients, Suzette has worked as a broadcast host for Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN) and she has also been featured in national television commercials for the network. In 2015, Suzette joined the Caribbean National Weekly as their principal digital newscaster where she garnered thousands of weekly online viewers. In 2016, she served as a radio contributor for WHQT HOT 105FM’s popular Sunday night talk show HOT Talk with Jill Tracey and in 2017 she made appearances on Discovery ID Channel’s TV series “Six Degrees of Murder” and The Michael Baisden Show. For the past 3 years, Suzette has been featured as the Florida host of Jamaica’s most-watched seasonal television program, “Greetings Across the World.” In 2017, she was tapped to host South Florida’s “Good Morning, Diaspora!” where she interviewed newsmakers from across South Florida’s Caribbean diaspora. Suzette has also served as president of the South Florida Black Journalists Association, a 30-year old organization and an affiliated chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), where she was elected to serve a two-year term advocating for journalists of color throughout the South Florida region. She is currently serves as an executive board member for the Florida Society of Professional Journalists.
Suzette is a sought-after emcee and Keynote Speaker and she has hosted and participated in a myriad of events including live television interviews, live stage performances, pageants, youth symposiums, women’s conferences, concerts and awards galas, just to name a few. She is a 2016 Legacy Magazine South Florida Top 40 Under 40 Black Leaders of Today and Tomorrow honoree and she was selected as a “100 Outstanding Women of Broward” 2016 award recipient. Now-a-days she is focused on growing the “SPEAK” Movement – a women’s empowerment movement built on events and workshops that foster Sisterhood – Purpose – Empowerment – Authenticity and Knowledge. She is currently planning the follow-up to her highly successful women’s conference – The 2nd Annual S.P.E.A.K. Women’s Empowerment Conference – scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Miramar Cultural Center. A true renaissance woman, Suzette is committed to teaching others that you can choose what you want in life and you don’t have to conform with or settle for the expectations of others.
