As Fort Lauderdale gears up to vote in the Jan. 16th primary elections, it’s important to know who will be on the ballot. So let’s jump right to it. Since Heather Moraitis, wife of a state representative, was the only candidate to file for her seat in District 1 ……she won. Moraitis is a mother, schoolteacher and wife of George Moraitis, a Republican state representative from Fort Lauderdale. She will be sworn in March 20th, replacing Bruce Roberts in representing northeast Fort Lauderdale. Moraitis said fixing the city’s hobbled water-sewer system is priority No. 1, but voters also talked to her about roads, sidewalks, building permit delays and transportation.
